Beautiful quotes from this book
Truth is a bully that we all pretend to like.
Friendship is like an algebra test where no one passes.
Wisdom is just cleverness with all the guts kicked out of it.
The burden of happiness can be relieved by the balm of sufferings
Pain and suffering are connected but are not the same. Pain can exist without suffering and it is also possible to suffer without no pain. Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional.
For eg. if fire burns and is dangerous — is always individual, for ourselves alone, but what we learn from suffering is what unites us as one human people. If we do not suffer with out pain, then we have not learned about anything but ourselves. Pain without suffering is like victory without struggle.
Take your hand as example. If I open my hand like this, stretching the fingers and showing you the palm or if I open my hand and put it on your shoulder with fingers stretched out like this — that is happiness , or lets call it at this moment. And if I curl my fingers and close them tightly into a fist, just to, we may call them as suffering. The two gestures are opposite in their meaning and power. Each one is completely different in appearance and in what it can do, but the hand that makes the gesture is the same. Suffering is happiness, backwards.
Mistakes are like bad loves, the more you learn from them, the more you wish they’d never happened
Prisons are the temples where devils learn to prey, every time we turn the key we twist the knife of fate, because every time we cage a man we close him in with fate
Cruelty is kind of cowardice. Cruel laughter is the way cowards cry when they are not alone, and causing pain is how they grieve.
